Creating an Environment for Creativity

So this summer my goal is to create places where my children can be comfortable, creative and crafty. Their rooms are coming along and they have successfully kept them clean, which goes to show that when the junk is out, one is able to keep "things" where they should be. Kinda like each of us...when we get the "junk" out our lives we are more able to see clearly and move forward with order.

Next is the playroom...what was formerly a "MAN CAVE" or "THEATER ROOM" will now become an actual playroom. The ideas are flowing out and the kids are excited. Sunday I spent three hours taking my sofa apart staple by staple to use the clean fabric for valances in the playroom with a piece of scrap wood in the garage...cost: $0.00!!! We have too much furniture in that room and we need to throw it out. So re purposing was a great choice!

Our plan is to make an area where the kids can paint without fear of destroying the carpet. So we will build a floor with scrap wood, again that's FREE and then $40.00 for laminate flooring that will clean easily. Guess what...this floor can also be used as a STAGE!!! You know I must be so excited about that...Walker, believe it or not is the most excited!! I can't wait.

We are going to paint the walls with four different colors. We will paint one color a week to spread out the cost. Right now the playroom is clean and because of that I experienced what peace a room for the kids creativity can bring when it is in order. The kids played in there yesterday and put their toys away after they were done. If you are confused by my excitement...I can't keep anything clean so for this room and their rooms to be clean is HUGE!!! We are truly excited with anticipation for this room. Cost efficient, with lively colors and organization. We can't wait. I'll keep you posted!
