Jackson's Jellybeans Birthday Party!
So today was the day we celebrated Jackson's 7Th birthday with a skating party at Jellybeans. We did it exactly the way he wanted it...totally different from what I would have chosen. I had a list a mile long of people to invite. In fact I had 20 invitations (that I never got around to sending by the way). When Jackson and I sat down to make the list of the friends he wanted to invite...he was very specific...No girls and only Jacob, Kaden and Danny. Well, I thought, he can't possibly understand what this is. I tried and tried to add to the list but his mind was made up. So we had Jacob and Danny (Kaden's baby brother had an ear infection so he couldn't come)and...GIRLS...the sisters to both the boys plus Walker and Sydney. I have to say that as awkward as I thought it was to have so few people there...it was actually one of the nicest gatherings I have ever attended. The music wasn't even that loud today. It did turn out great and I know that the Lord was trying to show me that it isn't the quantity of people partying with you but rather the quality of those one chooses to have around them at their party. Jackson was completely content in his decision and it was nice to sit back and relax instead of feeling like he made a horrible choice and where, exactly did I go wrong? Sometimes, in a situation like this you just have to give your child what he wants. Today was a great lesson for me and offered me an opportunity to put my wants aside and improve in my struggle with patience. God shows himself everywhere and he certainly did today. Less in this case was truly more!!! Happy Birthday Jack!!!! Skate On....
